SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!

It was a long cold winter with a lot of snow! There was so much snow and cold that the Christmas decorating contest had to be canceled The snows began on December 18th and seemed as though they would never end. Snow was still falling on the mountaintop in April.  Daytime highs are finally reaching the 70’s and 80’s. What a relief winter is finally over!
Homer Hickam will receive the 2010 Spirit of America Audie Murphy Patriot-ism Award. Homer is the second West Virginian to receive this award. Chuck Yeager was the first. The award will be presented

Beyond Repair

Another piece of Coalwood history is gone. It appears the roof of the Jean Street School-Community building in Mudhole has caved in with the weight of the snows from winter.
