Working Today to Preserve Tomorrow

Cemeteries.  Another project we are undertaking is the recording of the

Coalwood/Caretta cemeteries. We’ve recently begun this task. If you have any

documentation or remembrance of any persons buried here, or any other historical

significance, we’d like to hear from you. We are submitting our findings to the

WV Division of Culture & History in Charleston.  We will also send our results to

several international cemetery organizations, so all will have access to these

important records.

Genealogy. There is no origin for a

genealogy search of Coalwood families.

People are looking for people.

They want to know the story of their

ancestors.  They want to know how they

lived, how they worked, what a day in

their life was like.  There is a wealth of

information out there, yet there is no

central place to do this important search.

We are committed to being that central

place. Our Coalwood Queries page on

this web site will be up soon so you can

begin to initiate your search.

Unrecorded Stories of Mud Hole,

Snake Root and Six.

There’s very little information on the

citizens from Mud Hole, Snake Root, and

Six. The histories here are unrecorded

and the stories here untold. We are in

the process of mailing out a request to

those who have ties to these

communities.  We want to know who you

are, where you are, and the story you

come from.  Our goal is to collect oral

and written narratives. No memory is too

much or too little.  If you have

something to share, we’d love to hear

from you.
