Today the machine shop stands vacant. The machines are gone. A majority of the splendid cut-glass windows are broken. The current owner placed a new roof on the building in the fall of 2008, but nothing more has been done.

Construction on the Coalwood Apartments was completed in 1922. The apartments were built where the old horse and mule stable once stood. Photos as early as November 1922 show residents living in the apartments.
